Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey, suffered an injury during their FA Cup 4th round 1-0 defeat to league champions, Manchester City at Etihad on Friday evening and Arsenal fans on social media are already freaking out.

The Ghana international took a knock to the ribs in the first half and eventually made way at half time as his condition worsened.

Partey, who had been key to the Gunners’ surprise table-topping feat this season, had to be replaced by Albert Sambi Lokonga at the beginning of the second half of the encounter.

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta during the post-match briefing confirmed Thomas picked up an injury, saying the team will need an MRI scan to know the extent.

He said: “He had some discomfort and it was getting worse and worse. He could not continue and he was not comfortable to continue. No initial diagnosis. Tomorrow, or the day after it will have to be an MRI scan and we’ll see what he has.”

Prior to this development, Arsenal had signalled their intention to sign  Brighton’s defensive midfielder, Moises Caicedo after offering  £60million for his service

The Seagulls have since rejected the offer, making it clear that they are not willing to sell the player this month, especially not with three days left of the window.

However, Caicedo seems to be interested in a move away from Brighton, as he has issued a passionate plea on social media to the club to let him leave.

He said: “I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.

“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so hope they can understand why want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”

While the transfer saga lingers, Arsenal fans will be anxiously waiting for Thomas Partey’s result and wishing for the best, while also hoping they can get Caicedo as a backup.
