Ododo/Oyibo symbiotic values in politics
By Jibrin Isah Egbolo
As the 2027 general election approaches, and Kogi state governorship off cycle election also approaches, the opposition supporters are gladiating in futility to unseat our Digital Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and his Deputy, Salifu Joel Oyibo.
It suffices to say that every citizen has the right to hold political opinions and aspirations. It is germane to assess the political realities with objectivity rather than conjectures or emotions. This is not an attempt to praise His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo and his Deputy Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, but an acknowledgment of a fact- checked political values and strength of the two inseparable twins on their robust interpersonal alliance built for several decades.
Ododo/Oyibo are not politicians whose influence were established overnight nor those who will be easily displaced with a single electoral cycle.Their political journey reflects years of strategic planning, robust alliance building, grass roots organisations and state political engagement.
Ododo/Oyibo in their declaration of commitment has chosen love over hatred, unity over division, forgiveness over bitterness, understanding over conflict especially because of the activities of conflict entrepreneurs.
Ododo/Oyibo declared total commitment to remain an ambassador of peace to many families, communities and the state in general. They are of firm belief that Kogi is the only state we have and we must therefore solve our problems ourselves. They are ready in oaths to lay a very solid foundation for growths of true democracy and foundational ideals of the state.
Their leadership avoids ad hoc or temporary solutions by ensuring that state problems are addressed firmly, objectively, decisively and with all sincerity of purposes.
For this reason, many experienced political observers understand the magnitude of the challenges facing the opposition. Elections are not won by enthusiasm or ethnic agenda but through physical structure, organisations, broad based public acceptance, and the ability to connect with diverse and heterogeneous segments of the electorates. This is why many Kogi sons and daughters should look beyond emotions and tribal divides of the expectations surrounding 2027.
The conversation in the most realistic atmosphere is who is prepared to succeed Ododo/ Oyibo in 2031. Rather than the sophistry and hallucinations of investing valuable time, resources and energy in a political battle that could deepen religious and tribal divisions, Kogites should focus on identifying leaders as former Governor Yahaya Bello who brought leaders of competence, character, vision and state appeal.
Leadership for good governance is built on ideas, development, economic salvation and growth, security and state sustainability.
Ododo/ Oyibo has made Kogi state an egalitarian state and has abrogated ethnic politics free from hostility, division, polarisation and ethnic brouhaha.
As a writer crusading for good leadership and governance, I extend my profound appreciation to Hon. Eunice Achimugu, Hon. Hussaini Inah, Hon. Cosmos Attabo, Prof. Stephen Ocheni Emma Show Love, Hon. Ayuba Shaibu and Hon. Christiana Ogwu. The strategic efforts of these individuals brought about inclusion in politics in Kogi state particularly Igalamela Odolu local Government.
