TECNO aims high with Phantom Z in Nigeria

-

TECNO Mobile, a brand under TRANSSION Holdings, has stepped boldly into the competitive Nigerian smartphone market with Phantom Z, which raises TECNO from an inferior status to the AB segment.

The company’s Deputy General Manager, Chidi Okonkwo, said the device is a great milestone because it offers superior features that will “revolutionalise” smartphone use in the country.

Phantom Z comes with a data bundle from MTN, Etisalat, Glo and Airtel.

Techno products have won several prestigious awards in the last two years and Okonkwo promised that the company will press on with research and innovation “because the brand is highly favoured among consumers due to its quality” and “is here to raise the bar in the smartphone market.”

Phantom Z is in direct competition with Samsung’s latest gizmo, Samsung S5. This device is powered by Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and set to deliver cutting edge features at retail-friendly price.

The features in Phantom Z include a 7.9mm ‘unibody’ design; 2GB RAM with 32GB memory; 3030mAH battery that lasts 24 hours of talk time and 960 hours of standby time on a 3G network.

Jumia Nigeria Managing Director (Marketing), Jonathan Doerr, expressed delight at the partnership with Phantom Z, saying TECNO has “revolutionalised” the smartphone market in Nigeria at an affordable price.

“TECNO and Jumia are visionary brands and we hope that consumers can enjoy Phantom Z,” he enthused.

The handset has a stylish high-end back cover, a dual camera complete with the first dual flash camera that allows the user to create selfies during the day or at night.

Its 5.2 inch, 1920x1080p full HD screen has the latest AMOLED screen technology that ensures high pixel density and high contrast ratio and with anti-scratch and anti-fingerprint surface.

TRANSSION Holdings Head of Public Relations, Mounir Boukali, said Nigeria has increasingly adopted TECNO smartphone products, recalling that Phantom A+ was “a huge success” in the country, which is ready for a top-end smartphone experience.

“The Phantom Z will revolutionise how Nigerians interact with mobile technology due to the speed provided by the world’s first true Octa-core processor, Mediatek’s MT6592 developed by our technology partners MediaTek,” said Arnaud Lefebvre, Head of Design of TRANSSION Holdings. “Phantom Z is truly an efficient device; that is its core offering and why we are excited about it.”

Opera Software Partner Marketing Director, Arjun Bhatt, expressed satisfaction with the partnership with TECNO in bringing Nigerian mobile users a faster and smoother browsing experience.

Opera Mini, pre-installed on Phantom Z, has advanced data-compression technology that compresses web pages by 90 per cent, allowing users to browse without worrying about data cost and network speed.

“Nigeria is an exciting and important market for Opera and we look forward to continuing to expand here,” Bhatt said.
