Speaker the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has picked the notice of intent and nomination forms to run for the office of President in the 2015 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move laid to rest speculations about Mr Tambuwal’s immediate political plan.
When contacted, Spokesman to the Speaker, Malam Imam sent this sms: “Earlier today, some friends and political associates of the Speaker notified him that they have bought presidential nomination forms for him.”
Tambuwal defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, October 28, saying “based on the provision of the 1999 constitution, and having regards to the development of PDP in my own state, Sokoto State, I hereby announce my membership with the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Many thought he wanted to run for the governorship seat in his home state, Sokoto but the latest move has added a new twist to the contest for the APC presidential ticket.
Former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah are also in the race of the APC ticket.
