Sunshine Stars FC of Akure Coach, Henry Abiodun, has blamed his side’s 2-0 defeat to Enyimba in a Globacom Premier League Week 21 encounter last Wednesday to poor officiating.
The Akure Gunners fell to a resurging Enyimba under Coach Kadiri Ikhana at the Aba International Stadium, thanks to goals from Etor Daniel and Markson Ojobo in either halves.
Abiodun, in his reaction after the encounter, lamented the poor decisions by the centre referee, accusing him of favouring the home team.
He said: “The referee here today killed the game. He favoured the home team. When we played against Enyimba in Akure, the tie was aired live on TV and everybody saw the result.
“Why did we not have today’s (Wednesday) also on TV? This kind of officiating will not help our league.”
The People’s Elephants showed no sign of missing their suspended leading scorer, Mfon Udoh, as Etor got the opener when he volleyed home on the 13th minute after Sunshine Stars’ goalkeeper, Henry Ayodele, had pushed Ugwu Uwadiegwu’s ball from a cross into the winger’s path before Markson Ojobo converted a late penalty to make it 2-0.
Enyimba climbed from 10th to sixth position with 32 points, while the visitors have now dropped out of the top half of the table, placing 11th on the log.
