Fear and confussion have hit staff and students of Fika Government Secondary School, Potiskum Yobe State, following the murder of one of the students, Garba Sani, of Class 1C in the school premises.
One of the management staff who does not want his name in print narrated that “In the morning during lesson hours, one of our students named Garba Sani who took excuse to go and ease himself in the hostel was found dead. He was killed by an unknown culprit.”
Investigation at the school compound revealed that the students do not have a functional toilets; they defecate in the open, while they don’t have enough security guards in the school compound.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Bitrus Noam, comfirmed the incident. He explained that “a 15 years old student, Garbs Sani, in SS 1C of Fika Government Secondary School, Potiskum was found slaughtered dead by unknown person in an abandoned hostel while one Adamu Yusuf, 19 years old, was arrested in connection of the case. He was seen behind the fence by the students and he took to his heels, but was pursued and arrested. He is currently undergoing investigation. ”
The killing of the student has scared the remaining students who most of them have left the school compound.
