Former Barcelona striker and the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, FECAFOOT, has been declared as the biological father of a 22-year-old, Erika Do Rosario Nieves by a court in Madrid, Spain.

The former Cameroonian international striker has never acknowledged he was her father nor did he attend the court proceedings, which eventually led to the judgment.

Court number 83 in Madrid in a verdict reached on Thursday to conclude a legal process that commenced in 2018,  ruled that Eto’o now must pay allowance to the young woman totaling €1,400 per month from the date the lawsuit was filed.

Erika’s mother, Adileusa is said to have met Eto’o at a nightclub in Madrid in 1997 when the Cameroonian was loaned to  Leganes, a club based near the Spanish capital by his parent club Real Madrid.

According to the Spanish press agency EFE, the woman discovered in February 1998 that she had become pregnant after a relationship had developed.

The lawsuit stated that Eto’o after learning about the pregnancy “told her that he would act responsibly concerning the common child, although he preferred that she did not give birth to the child.”

The suit continued: “during the pregnancy, she tried to communicate with the future father (Eto’o), but he did not answer her phone calls or reply to her emails.”

Eto’o allegedly broke all ties with Adileusa, who later gave birth to Erika in the Alarcon Foundation hospital in Madrid, Spain in 1999.

The striker at that time had moved to Catalonia from the capital, Madrid, playing for Espanyol whom he also joined on a loan deal from his then parent club, Real Madrid.

The judge, while delivering judgment, held that the woman provided biological evidence that supported her testimony that Erika was the daughter of the former striker.

The FECAFOOT president, whose country recently held the 33rd African Cup of Nations (AFCON), was never part of the court proceedings since the case started in 2018 and was not present when the verdict was delivered.
