Soyinka describes critics of ‘Green Card’ statement as illiterate

-

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has been explaining his decision to dump the green card following the emergence of Mr Donald Trump as U.S President-elect.

Soyinka, who was addressing a press conference at Freedom Park in Lagos, described those condemning his actions as illiterate, insisting that his action was purely a personal affair.

In his words, “we have too many illiterates in this country – for me, Trump is not really my business”.

The foremost playwright had promised to tear up his green card if Donald Trump won the U.S election.

He however told journalists in South Africa last week, that he had made good his vow, adding that he has relocated to Nigeria.
