Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has promised to reverse the naming of all public facilities named after President Bola Tinubu and members of his administration if he is elected Nigeria’s President in 2027.
He made the declaration on Friday in a statement shared on his official Facebook page, while reacting to the Federal Government’s decision to rename the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway after Tinubu.
Earlier, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, had announced the rechristening of the route as the ‘
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway”.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the minister said: “By the power conferred on me as the Honourable Minister of Works, and in consultation with the Permanent Secretary, the Minister of State, the directors, and the entire staff of the Ministry, we have decided to name the entire Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
”This is a dream that Mr President had about 27 years ago.”
Reacting to the news, Sowore condemned the naming of highways, public institutions, and other national assets after Tinubu and others who he claims enabled Nigeria’s decline, vowing to overturn the decisions.
Writing via his verified social media handle, he stated: “The naming of highways, national institutions, and public assets after officials of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu regime that impoverished Nigeria, and those who enabled its decline, will be reversed as a matter of urgency under a #Sowore2027 administration.”
