Rights activist and Take-it-Back (TIB) Movement co-convener, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed that he will not join the proposed coalition of former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the scheming for the vote in 2027, but not because he supports Bola Tinubu as President.
Sowore bared his mind on Arise Television where he also vowed never join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the next election, insisting that he will only join the coalition of the oppressed.
“I’m not joining any coalition, the coalition that they joined in 2013 and 2015 is what brought about the APC [All Progressives Congress], so joining another coalition in 2025 is doing the same thing all over again without thinking of achieving the same set of results,” he said.
“The coalition that needs to be built is that of the oppressed, joining another coalition that is made up of the same people who were the ones that created the coalition that ruined Nigeria, it’s an injustice and an injury to the people of Nigeria.
“So you can never see me in their coalition and I will never be part of it, I’m not joining the SDP, I’m not part of those playing chess with the destiny of Nigerians.”
Atiku disclosed at a press conference by Concerned Leaders and Political Stakeholders in Nigeria that himself, Obi, and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai have formed a coalition to oust Tinubu from power at the ballot box in 2027.
Atiku warned the government not to allow personal political interests and the desire to hold on to power at all costs to throw the country into chaos through subversion of the principles of federalism, democracy, and constitutional governance, stressing that it is not just about Rivers but the future of Nigeria’s democracy.
