Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State who is chairman of South East Governors Forum had dispatched a letter to President Muhamamdu Buhari on the inconveniences of immediate rehabilitation of work at the Enugu International Airport.
In a letter Umahi signed which was written on August 19, the South East governors pleaded with Buhari to give approval for the repair work at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport tom commence in October to enable them find alternatives for the users of the airport in terms of roads.
The governors decried the impromptu notice for the repairs and suggested that one week be assigned for the tarmac to be fixed and specifically by Julius Berger even as they made strong case for the entire rehabilitation work to be given to the construction giant.
Although the governors thanked Buhari for approving the rehabilitation work, for the ongoing work on the Second Niger Bridge, for the completion of the Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Mausoleum, for the 208 megawatt solar power at the Alex Ekwueme University at Ndufu, Alike Ikwo in Ebonyi state, and other interventionists federal government works in the area, they sought his intervention on the repair work at the Enugu airport as regards the security of the people and their visitors during the period of the rehabilitation.
