South Africa defeated Nigeria 1-0 in their last WAFCON meeting three years ago in Morocco.

South Africa head coach, Desiree Ellis has bragged that her players know how to beat the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
She made this known after her team defeated Senegal 4-1 on penalities to book a place in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Tuesday.
Banyana Banyana will now take on perennial rivals, Nigeria in one of the semi-finals of the contest.

The defending champions defeated Nigeria 1-0 in their last WAFCON meeting three years ago in Morocco, even though Nigeria have a better head-to-head record.
Speaking ahead of their semi-final clash,
Ellis fired a warning to Nigeria, stressing that South Africa know how to beat the nine time African champions.
“We know what this match means. We know what it takes to beat Nigeria,” Ellis was quoted by CAFonline.
Meanwhile, Super Falcons thrashed Copper Queens of Zambia 5-0 in their in the quarter final clash to set up Tuesday’s semi-final against South Africa.
