South Africa held the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier played in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
The home side drew the first blood after Nigeria captain, William Troost-Ekong scored an own goal.
The visitors equalized in the 45th minute through Cyriel Dessers with the encounter ending 1-1 in the first half.

On resumption of the second half, neither of the two sides could break down the other’s defence line.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles’ failure to secure maximum points away in South Africa leaves Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup hopes hanging by a thread.
