Liverpool boss, Arne Slot, has hit out at Newcastle United’s approach to
Monday night’s Premier League clash between the two clubs, saying what they played at St James Park wasn’t a “football game”

He made this known while speaking on  Sky Sports after the Reds edged past the Magpies.

The reigning champions threw away a two-goal lead on the night, but ended up winning 3-2.

Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike gave the Reds a two-goal lead in what was a feisty encounter.

And although Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula levelled the game for Newcastle, Rio Ngumoha grabbed a dramatic late winner for the Reds.

Reacting after the narrow win, Slot said Newcastle relied more on set-pieces  and long throws during the match.

He, however, commended his players for standing firm and withstanding their tactics.

Speaking after the encounter, The Ductch tactician said: “I’m not too sure if I saw a football match today. It was set-piece after set-piece, long throw.

“It didn’t have a lot to do with tactics, what I said before the game, but I liked a lot how we stood strong.

“Very difficult first half hour, 45 minutes, but we didn’t collapse at all, we stood strong.”
