Shina Peters reveals he became a father at 14

Shina Peters also claimed that despite singing in Yoruba, 65 per cent of his fans are Igbo.

Veteran singer and Afro-Juju legend, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, popularly known as Sir Shina Peters, has disclosed that he had his first child at the age of 14.

He made the revelation in the teaser for the upcoming episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, which is set to air at 6 p.m. on Monday.

While reflecting on his early career and personal struggles, the 67-year-old artist added that apart from becoming a father at a very young age, a lot of his achievements occurred while still a teenager.

According to him, he bought his first car at 13 and built his first house at the age of 16.

During the podcast, Shina Peters said, “I started my career at the age of 10. I had my first child at 14. I bought my first car at 13. I built my first house at 16.”

The Ace crooner further claimed that despite singing mostly in Yoruba, the majority of his fans are Igbo.

“Sixty-five percent of my fans are Igbos, not Yorubas. My fans are demanding that I give them new music, but I don’t just go to the studio. I can’t go to the studio, the atmosphere is not conducive for me. I don’t know what to sing,” Shina Peters added.
