Human rights activist and former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has said Nigeria lost its “African blood brothers” because of “Western conditional friends” after three countries withdrew membership from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The military regimes in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger in a joint statement on Sunday, said they have withdrawn their membership from ECOWAS.

According to the military juntas, it was a “sovereign decision” to leave the Economic Community of West African States “without delay”.
