An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has argued that government should negotiate with terrorists holding the country to ransom as a means of ensuring peace in the country.
He said this when he appeared as a guest on ARISE TV’s programme, ‘The Morning Show.’
Gumi was making the point that killer herdsmen should be made forest and school guards as a better way of protecting those places.
He said the killing of Abubakar Shekau by the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP), a man the military hunted for more than ten years without success, should make the point that having the terrorists as guards would better serve the country’s safety.
In a different context, a former senator who represented Kaduna Central tweeted that the manner the ISWAP killed Shekau should be a lesson for those managing Nigeria’s security architecture
He said: “How the ISWAP wiped out the leader of Boko Haram without Billions of dollars budget and supplementary budget should be a case of study for our security and finance experts.”
