Shehu Sani counsels Tinubu against allowing French, US troops relocate to Nigeria

Human rights activist and former federal  lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against allowing French and United States (US) soldiers evicted from Niger Republic to relocate to Nigeria.

He also urged the president to fund Nigeria’s military properly, so that it can
confront the country’s challenges head-on.

The former senator who once  represented Kaduna Central senatorial district in the Red Chamber gave the advice via his X handle.

Speaking on his verified social media page, Shehu Sani tweeted: “The French forces and American troops evicted from Niger Republic must not be accommodated in our Nigerian soil.

“President Tinubu should fully equip and fund our Military and other security forces to confront our security challenges. This should be clear and simple.”

His counsel comes after some reports alleged that the US and the French governments have been lobbying Nigeria and other countries in the region, to sign new defence pacts allowing them to redeploy their expelled troops.

Some Northern leaders have also urged the Nigerian government not to allow the US and the French governments to relocate their military bases from the Sahel to Nigeria.

According to them, allowing such a move posed danger to the country.
