Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, has voiced his concern after England manager, Gareth Southgate excluded Man City’s Jack Grealish and Man United’s Marcus Rashford from Euro 2024 squad.

According to the Three Lions legend, the decision will bring about lack of “tournament know-how” in England’s attack and might end up being a big mistake.

He also said England will miss the experience of Man United’s Harry Maguire in the defence.

Grealish was initially included in the provisional 33-man squad, he was ultimately left out of the final 26 due to inconsistent form and fitness issues last season.

Rashford, meanwhile, was also omitted after a disappointing season with Manchester United, where he scored only eight goals across all competitions.

Speaking via a post via his Instagram page Scholes wrote:

“Trying to make my mind up about this England squad, love him or hate will miss the experience of [Harry] Maguire defensively,”

He added, “LB [left-back] a big problem, major lack experience in mf [midfield] but [Declan] Rice is good enough to bring all together.

“Worried about forward line, obvs love [Phil] Foden/[Harry] Kane/[Bukayo] Saka…honestly think not having the major tournament know-how of Rashford and Grealish as backups (been there and done it) is a big mistake!!”
