Pundit and former Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, has expressed reservations for the tactical approach of Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim, after the Red Devils were walloped 3-0 by local rivals, Man City on Sunday.

He made his feelings known after his former club were outplayed during the  Premier League fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

A first half header from Phil Foden and a brace from Erling Haaland in the second half settled the one sided encounter.

The defeat to City left Man United in 14th place on the Premier League table after four games.

Speaking after the match, Schmeichel noted that Pep Guardiola’s men weren’t at their best but still claimed the 3 points at stake.

The 61-year-old added that he doesn’t think Amorim has improved Man United at all since taking charge of the club last year.

He, however, called on the manager to change his system to get results for the Premier League giants.

“Looking at the Man United team I can’t help but feel it is moved nowhere,” Schmeichel was quoted by Metro UK as saying after the game.

“It’s just the same. Manchester City didn’t need to play exceptionally well.

“I think he [Amorim] needs to consider changing things a little bit. Change the system so you get players playing what they know, what they have been brought up to play. Go four at the back.”
