Saraki also claimed that President Tinubu did not wield the level of influence many attributed to him during Buhari’s administration.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has dismissed suggestions that President Bola Tinubu played a part in his legal challenges during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He made this known recently during an appearance on the Channels Television programme, Politics Today.
According to the former Kwara State Governor, it would be unfair to blame the incumbent president for the legal hurdles and political persecution he faced while serving as Senate President.
He maintained that Tinubu did not have the level of influence within the Buhari government that many people assumed.

Responding to questions regarding whether the President played a role in his past troubles, Saraki said: “That’s not fair on President Tinubu. During former President Buhari’s administration, Tinubu didn’t have the say that they claimed he had.”
He further clarified that neither his prosecution at the Code of Conduct Tribunal nor the investigations linked to the Offa robbery incident were influenced by Tinubu.
Saraki added that although his actions as Senate President eventually led to political persecution, he acted in the best interest of the nation.
“I was doing what I felt was in the interest of the country as the President of the Senate, and for doing those things, I was then persecuted,” Saraki added.
