His existing deal was due to end in 2024, but with the new deal, he is now set to add another three years to his stay at the Emirates.

Saliba, who enjoyed a breakout season with Arsenal this season, first signed for the Gunners for a fee of around £27m in 2019 and after a year back on loan with former club Saint-Etienne was then handed the number four shirt.

However, he did not make his first-team debut until August 2022, when he faced Crystal Palace and instantly became a key member of Mikel Arteta’s squad after two further loan spells at Nice and Marseille.

The Frenchman proved just how vital he is to Arsenal when his injury against Sporting in the Europa League saw him miss the final 11 games of the season that eventually derailed Arsenal’s title bid.
