Warri Wolves FC striker, Gbolahan Salami, has expressed his willingness to emerge as the top scorer in the league at the end of the season.
After helping Warri Wolves beat Dolphins FC 3-1 in Warri, the former Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars player said his target is the golden boot.
He said: “My target is to be the top scorer in the league at the end of the season. What that means is that I have to work hard, very hard, to make my dream come true.”
A brace from Salami in their match last Wednesday against Dolphins, and intelligent flick off a corner to give Ike Thankgod a goal, helped Warri Wolves beat Dolphins 3-1 in Warri.
The Super Eagles striker converted a 27th minute penalty after Victor Ezuruike brought down Ifeanyi Edeh in the box to end the first half of the match 1-0 in favour of Warri Wolves.
Thankgod scored the second goal for Warri Wolves, while Emem Eduok pulled one back for Dolphins in the 64th minute of the game before Salami got a brace waltzing past the Dolphins defence before slotting past a hapless Austin Brown in goal with 10 minutes to the end of the match.
Warri Wolves gaffer, Paul Aigbogun, after the game had kind words for Salami: “He has been doing well for quite some time now and is an integral part of the team. We are happy with his input which has helped the team.”
Dolphins coach, Stanley Eguma, attributed the defeat to loss of concentration in his defence, promising that they will work hard to address it.
He said: “It was simply a loss of concentration in our defence and it cost us two goals. Aside that, the result would have been different. So we have to go back and work on it for subsequent matches.
