-

Nigeria Super Eagles Technical Adviser ,Gernot Rohr, has said that his team was not the favourites to win the 2018 World Cup despite the Super Eagles emphatic 4-2 win over Argentina on Tuesday night in Russia.

Nigeria came back from two goals down and defeated Argentina 4-2 at the Krasnodar Stadium in an International friendly game.

Alex Iwobi scored a second half brace, while Kelechi Iheanacho’s superb free-kick and a debut goal by Brain Idowu helped Nigeria to secure their second victory over Argentina at senior level.

“I am happy we came back from two goals down to win 4-2. It shows we have great team spirit and determination, when you keep fighting after going two goals down against a great team like Argentina,” said Rohr after the game.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has revealed the team struggled with the new formation in the first half against Argentina despite their comeback victory.

Coach Gernot Rohr opted to experiment with a new 3-5-2 formation against Argentina in the friendly game at the Krasnodar Stadium, Russia.

Argentina controlled the play in the first half and scored two goals within eight minutes. Ever Banega opened the scores for Argentina in the 28th minute before Sergio Aguero doubled the lead eight minutes later.

“We played a new system we have never played before, so we struggled to find our feet in the first half,” said Mikel after the game.
