Afrobeats singer and songwriter Michael Adebayo Olayinka, better known as Ruger, has recalled how he missed an opportunity to feature in a blockbuster by Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele, admitting that missing the chance “still hurts” to this day.

The Asiwaju star shared this during a recent interview with Nigerian video jockey and TV host VJ Adams.

According to Ruger, the movie star had messaged him to ask if he was interested in a role, but he did not see the message until it was too late.

He explained that he only discovered the offer after visiting his social media profile to thank the veteran actress, whom he had noticed frequently enjoying and supporting his music.

The 26-year-old artist described the incident as one of his “biggest missed opportunities,” adding that he was deeply saddened when he finally saw the message.

Despite his interest, he admitted that acting might be a difficult transition because he finds the “shooting” process tedious.

Speaking during the interview, Ruger said: “I am interested in acting and wouldn’t mind entering the film industry. I once missed a DM from Funke Akindele for a movie role. I didn’t see it in time, and that one still hurts me.”

“However, I think acting would be difficult because I don’t like the filming process. But I would still get into character. If the character is interesting, then yes.”
