Irish commentator and former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has described the controversial goal scored by Erling Haaland in Manchester City’s derby win over the Red Devils on Sunday as an “absolutely brilliant finish”.
He made his comments on Sunday while analysing the match-week four Premier League encounter in the Sky Sports studio.
Man City defeated their city rivals Man United 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to Haaland’s second-half goal.
Enzo Maresca’s side were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Phil Foden was sent off for a challenge on United captain Bruno Fernandes during the match.
Speaking after the game, Keane praised the goal scored by the Norwegian striker, calling it a top-quality strike despite its controversial nature.

According to the United legend, Haaland handled the ball played to him exceptionally well before guiding it into the net.
“It was a brilliant finish from Haaland. Obviously, there is controversy surrounding it, but it’s come at him very quickly,” Keane said.
He added: “He’s dealt with it and put it in the net—an absolutely brilliant finish.”
Following the win, Man City remain in second place, level on points with reigning Premier League champions Arsenal.
However, the defeat leaves Man United in 13th position in the Premier League table with four points from four matches.
