Rojo says Maguire deserves to be benched at United

Rojo said he is happy that the England defender has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford after he was favored over him

Ex-Manchester United defender, Faustino Marcos Alberto Rojo better known as Marcos Rojo has expressed happiness that the England defender, Harry Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Rojo, an Argentina international joined Manchester United in 2014 but later left for Boca Juniors in February 2021.

During his stay at the Theatre of Dreams never became a regular starter for the Red Devils.

Speaking recently about his ordeal at United, the Argentine recalled how he confronted the United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for always picking Maguire over him despite the Englishman’s costly errors.

The 33-year-old while on TyC Sports said he was happy to see his compatriot, Lisandro Martinez keeping Maguire on the bench.

“I was really angry with the Manchester coach because he was putting Maguire in instead of me; thank God he finally took him out from the starting lineup for Licha Martínez,” he said.

Rojo said when he confronted Solskjaer in his office over being benched for the United captain, the manager told him that Maguire had to play because of the money they paid to bring him to the club.
