“The only way that we can move this country forward in terms of the opposition is to come together. We cannot afford to divide our votes again.

“Add Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s votes to His Excellency Peter Obi’s votes, they’ll completely take out the current sitting President – Rhodes-Vivour.

Former Labour Party (LP) Lagos governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has reiterated that opposition figures are working to sack Bola Tinubu from the presidency in the belief that an Atiku Abubakar-Peter Obi ticket will “completely take out” the man in 2027 – provided the election in not rigged as before.

Rhodes-Vivour, 42, confirmed on Channels Television that talks are ongoing to form a united opposition coalition led by key political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi.

“The only way that we can move this country forward in terms of the opposition is to come together. We cannot afford to divide our votes again.

“Add Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s votes to His Excellency Peter Obi’s votes, they’ll completely take out the current sitting President,” he enthused.

He said split votes cost the opposition dearly in the 2023 ballot and stressed the importance of forming a formidable front to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next round.

“The conversation now is that we are working to put a coalition together. We are going to hear announcements by tomorrow or next tomorrow, and everybody is coming together.

“That’s our main focus. At that point, we can then authoritatively say this is the party that we are going to run on.”

Rhodes-Vivour knocked the Tinubu administration, describing it as a “failure”, particularly in economic management and public welfare.

“This government ultimately has been a failure. When you talk about the quality of life, the cost of living, this is the highest cost-of-living crisis that Nigeria has faced in the last 40 years.

“You look at security: over 10,000 people have died in the North, and about 7,000 people have died in the South.

“On the international tourism index, we have gone from number 8 to number 6.

“You can talk of policies all you want, but if people are experiencing hardship, simultaneously, you are renovating the Vice President’s residence” with N21 billion.

Rhodes-Vivour also took a swipe at the Lagos Government, accusing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration of prioritising political self-interest over service to the people.
