Renowned Author Nduka Otiono to illuminate literature and environmental dialogue on Book Day

Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF) has announced a special Book Day event scheduled for October 3, 2025.

This event promises to be an inspiring and engaging celebration of literature, environmental awareness, and community involvement. Renowned author Nduka Otiono will be the guest at this month’s Book Reading Day.

Known for his compelling stories and poetry that intricately blend culture, environment, and identity, Otiono is expected to captivate us with readings from his notable works, as part of a broader initiative to foster environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices.

This event aligns with the mission of the Book Day activity to explore the intersections of culture, environment, and identity, highlighting HOMEF’s commitment to promoting environmental justice anchored on the needs of the people and in reference to Mother Earth.

Otiono, a multiple award-winning author is a professor and director of the Institute of African Studies, Carleton University, Canada. He was for many years a journalist in Nigeria, General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors and founding member of the board of Nigeria Prize for Literature as well as of UNESCO’s National Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage for Nigeria. He is the author and co-editor of about a dozen books of creative writing and academic research. His research has appeared in top-ranked academic journals.
