Afrobeats singer, rapper and songwriter Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, has disclosed his pre-show rituals before taking to the stage to entertain his audience.
He made the revelation during a recent interview with Dazed on the sidelines of Milan Fashion Week, where he walked the runway for Diesel.
According to the ‘Calm Down’ crooner, he usually drinks alcohol, smokes cigarettes, and prays before his performances.
He added that he also conducts a soundcheck with his team to ensure all technicalities are in place for a high-quality show.

When asked about his pre-show routine, Rema said: “A little tequila, a little cigarette, pray, tap in with the team and make sure everything is on cue.”
He went on to explain that performing is more strenuous than walking a runway, noting that “performing has a lot to do with your breathwork, and you have to keep the crowd going.”
While discussing the music genres that have been inspiring him lately, Rema added: “I have been listening to a lot of Sudanese cultural live music.”
He also admitted that smoking cigarettes is his “biggest vice.”
