Amid growing problems in her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels is facing another challenge as her brother Samuel Daniels, popularly known as Sammy West was recently arrested.
The arrest added to her distraught but it unexpectedly resulted in her estranged parents reuniting.
Sammy was reportedly arrested in Lagos on November 3 and later sent to Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State, where he is expected to stay until November 28. The family says he was taken without a warrant, beaten, and denied bail. They also claim that the magistrate handling the case is missing.
Regina has accused her husband of using his political power to order her brother’s arrest as part of their ongoing marital conflict. The couple has been in the news for weeks with public accusations of abuse and misuse of power.
The situation has brought Regina’s parents, Rita Daniels and her ex-husband, Jude Ojeogwu together again in Abuja to help secure their son’s release.
Regina shared her happiness about their reunion on social media, saying it gave her comfort during a hard time. She also spoke warmly about her father, describing him as a once-prominent lawyer whose career suffered because of the problems in Nigeria’s system.
Her mother, Rita Daniels, accused Senator Nwoko of taking advantage of Regina’s fame during his 2019 Senate campaign, claiming he gained publicity and an alleged $50,000 donation from her daughter (Regina). She also said he has been using his influence to intimidate the family.
Regina has promised to fight for custody of her two sons, Munir and Khalifa, saying her main focus now is their safety and peace.
