Afrobeats singer, Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, better known as Reekado Banks has admitted that his decisions to leave his former record label, Mavin Records and start his own music company were premature.
He made this known recently while featuring on ‘the Echoo Room’, anchored by reality star, Teddy A.
The ‘Ozumba Mbadiwe’ crooner rose to prominence after signing for Mavin Records and winning the Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014, and receiving the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015.
He, however, left the label in 2018 and launched his own imprint, Banks Music.

Speaking about his decision to leave the record label that brought him to limelight, Reekado Banks revealed he later realised his exit was hasty.
He, however, clarified that his decision not to sign a new contract wasn’t due to a disagreement.
He further explained that his contract had ended two years before he took the bold step of leaving instead of renewing the contract.
Explaining what transpired, Reekado Banks said, “It [my exit from Mavin Records] wasn’t a conflict situation. I was pretty young and pretty fixated on what I wanted to do -I wanted to leave. Anyways, my contract has ended two years prior. I signed a three-year contract and I allowed it to ride for another two years. So, I was there for five years without reviewing the contract.
“So, when it was time, I thought I wanted to do this [leave] now. I thought I could do it now. I just embarked on the journey, as many people would view it, prematurely. As soon as I jumped into the sea as well, I realised how premature it was.”
