Real Madrid mourn passing of ex-Romania coach Mircea Lucescu

La Liga giants Real Madrid have reacted to the death of iconic Romanian coach, Mircea Lucescu.

The Spanish outfit, in a recent statement shared via its website, expressed regret over the passing of the former Romanian international.

The late winger, who won all seven of his titles with Dinamo București, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 80 after suffering severe medical complications.

During his lifetime, Lucescu coached various sides in Romania, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia, including stints at Inter Milan and Galatasaray.

He won an astonishing 35 major trophies during a legendary career spanning Europe’s top clubs and international football.

Reacting to the news of his demise, Real Madrid expressed their condolences, love, and affection to Lucescu’s family, colleagues, and clubs.

The statement read, in part: “Real Madrid C.F., its president, and its Board of Directors deeply regret the passing of Mircea Lucescu, who was the national coach of Romania and Turkey.

“Real Madrid wishes to express its condolences and its love and affection to his family, his colleagues, his clubs, and all his loved ones. Rest in peace.”
