Bauchi tops others in housing, road construction rating

Bauchi State has been ranked the most active in large-scale infrastructure expansion in the housing and transportation sectors in the North East.
This rating is captured in the 2024 National Infrastructure report that highlights the state’s impressive strides in the two sectors, thus positioning it as a regional leader and a rising model for coordinated planning in infrastructure development in the North East region.
Speaking to newsmen on the feat, the Director of Planning and Programmes of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mohammed Sani Ladam, said Governor Bala Mohammed’s focus on modernizing the transport system has significantly enhanced connectivity across the state, facilitating trade, easy movement, and boosting economic activities.

He said expansion of housing infrastructure has helped to address long-standing challenges of urban congestion and inadequate accommodation, noting that through well-planned housing schemes, Bauchi State has provided both shelter and created employment opportunities and stimulated local industries linked to construction and real estate.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hajiya Amina Katagum, attributed the feat achieved by Bauchi State to the synergy between Governor Bala Mohammed’s leadership and the ministry’s technical expertise, which played a crucial role in positioning Bauchi as a model for strategic planning and effective execution of projects.
Meanwhile, residents and stakeholders have expressed optimism that this recognition will attract further investment into the state, as improved infrastructure would continue to make Bauchi State an increasingly attractive destination for businesses, development partners, and local as well as foreign investors.
