Although, there was no major upset in the English Premier League games played during the weekend, the only exception being Man United 1-1 home draw against Everton.
Champions of Bundesliga, FC Bayern Munich, French giant, Paris St Germain, Dutch Champion, AFC Ajax and the most successful and richest club in the world , Real Madrid were not as lucky.
In a game played at Allianz Arena , the home ground of Bayern, the German champion despite taking the lead, lost 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in their first defeat of the season.
The match between Zinedine Zidane side, Real Madrid and Espanyol also ended 2-1 in favour of the home side, Espanyol. Meanwhile, Catalan giant, Barcelona had earlier suffered 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid’s rival, Athletico Madrid on Saturday.
Former French Champion , Paris St Germain, despite parading the trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, lost away to lowly placed Rennes, in a match they could not muster a shot on target.
To crown a miserable Sunday for the European giants, AFC Ajax of Amsterdam , former club of Eyinmba coach , Finidi George and reigning Dutch Champion, lost 1-0 at home to FC Utrecht.
It might take a while before we ever witness a Sunday or day, in which 4 European giants lost to a less fancied club. Therefore, it remains a day football lovers and pundits would talk about for decades to come.
