England eliminated neighbours, Wales from this year’s World Cup, after trashing them 3-0 to set up a fascinating last-16 clash with African champions, Senegal.
Manager Gareth Southgate made four changes to his team that performed so poorly against USA, Rashford, Foden, Jordan Henderson and fit-again Kyle Walker coming in for Raheem Sterling, Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount and Kieran Trippier.
Wales came into the game knowing they needed to either beat England and hope Iran and USA ended in a draw or pursue the more unlikely outcome of running up a four-goal victory margin at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.
However, It was Marcus Rashford who opened the scoring in the 50th minute when the referee awarded a free kick to England after Phil Foden was charged from behind by Ethan Ampadu.
The Man United striker stepped forward and curled the direct free kick into the back of the net, making it 1-0 to the Three Lions.

England doubled their advantage four minutes later, when Phil Foden scored with his left foot after an assist from his captain and Spurs striker, Harry Kane.
Marcus Rashford took the contest beyond doubt in the 68th minute of the encounter after finding the net with his left foot from Kalvin Phillips’s pass.
England with the emphatic win, will now face Senegal in the last-16 after the African side beat Ecuador earlier in the day to come second in Group A.
Meanwhile, USA who edged past Iran in the other game in Group B will progress to the knockout stages alongside England and will be rewarded with a game against Group A winners, the Netherlands.
