Puyol while reacting to the news of Pique’s retirement, sent a touching message to him, admitting he was shocked to see him quit

Former Barcelona defender, Carles Puyol and Paris Saint Germain defender, Sergio Ramos have sent congratulatory notes to their former international colleague, Gerard Pique after he announced his retirement from football.
The Barcelona legend on Thursday, November 3, announced he will be hanging his boots after a fulfilling career.
Pique took to his official Twitter handle to break the news, as he is expected to retire after Saturday’s match against Almeria.

The 37-year-old spent 14 years in the first team of Barcelona following his return from Manchester United in 2008.
While announcing his retirement on social media he wrote, “I’ve always said that there would be no other team after Barcelona and that’s how it will be.”
“This Saturday’s game will be my last at the Camp Nou.
“I will become another fan and support the team and pass my love for Barcelona onto my kids, like parents did for me.”
Reacting to the news of his retirement, former Barcelona teammate, Carles Puyol sent a touching message to him, admitting he’s shocked to see his old friend call it a day.
“Geri thank you for everything I am in shock,” he wrote on Instagram. “It has been very unfair to you, few have defended the Barça shirt like you have. I will always be able to explain that I played alongside you, a privilege. I love you my friend.” he wrote.
Also responding to the news, former Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos also wished Pique well.
Ramos took to Twitter to state his congratulations on Pique’s retirement and a successful career that saw the Barcelona star win trophies at the club and international levels.
