Popular Yoruba actor, Sisi Quadri, dies at 44; Gov Adeleke, other Nigerians mourn

Gifted Nollywood actor, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri, is dead.

Oyebamiji’s death was announced by some of his colleagues in the Yoruba movie industry.

Announcing his death, Nollywood actress, Abiola Bayo wrote on her verified Instagram handle, “You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”

On X, netizens have been posting scenes of movies the actor featured. The videos also came with moving comments about the actor.

Oyebamiji, who is famous for his witty ability at insults, was only 44.

@Yeahmicee said: “Sisi Quadri is dead??? Damn��� This feels weird cos I was just watching him play a ghost in Anikulapo, Omo ������‍♀️”

@PoojaMedia said: “RIP Sisi Quadri. He featured in skits consistently last year and he was everywhere with his comedy & all. But now, he’s no more. This is sad.”

@DAMIADENUGA said: “Sisi Quadri was gifted in insults. Nobody goes toe to toe with him and survives on set.”

Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described the death of Oyebamiji as shocking and devastating.

The governor noted in a condolence message on Friday that he was a delight to watch on the screen, radiating homes with laughter through his style of acting.

He commiserated with his immediate family, especially his aged father, Alhaji Oyebamiji, the people of Iwoland and the movie industry as a whole, urging them to take consolation in a life of impacts, particularly in the acting profession.

The condolence message read in parts, “Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji was a delight to watch in movies. He was a great talent that illuminated homes and impacted valuable messages. With his demise, the memory of the wonderful moments he created on the scenes, and more, the comical relief he inspired through his works will reverberate for years.

“I mourn his loss knowing well the great talent that is gone. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the people of Iwoland, the movie industry, and everyone touched by this devastating experience. 

“It is my sincere prayer that they get the strength to bear the hard moment his passage represents. May Almighty Allah grant his aljanah fridaos soul.”
