Police summon Sowore over undisclosed petition alleging forgery, criminal defamation
By Ishaya Ibrahim
Presidential candidate of the African Action Alliance (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has been summoned by the police over allegations of forgery and criminal defamation.
The specifics of the allegations were, however, not disclosed to Sowore, in the summon letter signed by a deputy commissioner of Police, Akin Fakorede.
Sowore, who promised to honour the invitation scheduled for today at 11 am, had initially insisted that the specifics of the allegations be disclosed before attending the interrogation. But the police rejected his demand, saying the petition would only be handed to him physically in line with their procedure.
Sowore, however, said he would not be attending the meeting alone, but with members of the #RevolutionNow, since they do not move alone.
He said: “The IGP Monitoring Unit has scheduled my interview for tomorrow at 11:00 AM, yet they have refused to provide a copy of the purported petition against me. It is now clear that their intention is to conceal the sinister plan of the illegal IGP and continue operating in darkness.
“Despite this, I will honour the invitation — but not alone. I will be going with a full house.
“To all our revolutionary comrades, as always, we move together.
“Let every freedom fighter, every citizen of conscience, every voice of resistance assemble early tomorrow at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja. #RevolutionNow #EgbetokunMustGo.”
