Fadahunsi recently faced backlash after a viral video showed him allegedly directing supporters of his party, the APC, to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.

The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over an alleged directive to All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters to eliminate members of the Accord Party during Saturday’s governorship election.
He was invited for questioning in a letter dated 11 August 2026, signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, the Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in Osun State.
Fadahunsi came under criticism after a viral video showed him allegedly directing supporters of his party, the APC, to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party if they were found in parts of Ilesa during the electoral process.
The retired customs officer, however, made a U-turn later, claiming he was misrepresented and that the portions of his speech trending online were deliberately edited to create a false narrative.
“My attention has been drawn to an edited video being circulated by Davido on TikTok and Pelumi Olajengbesi on other social media platforms.
“The video was deliberately edited to distort what I actually said,” Fadahunsi claimed.

He further stated that he was only reacting to the alleged killing of his party’s members in Ilesa and other parts of Osun State.
“What I said was that if the alleged killing of our party members by Accord Party thugs does not stop, our party will retaliate,” he added.
Despite Fadahunsi’s explanation, his comments have continued to heighten tension in the state ahead of the 15 August governorship election.
Reacting to the alleged threat, the police invited the senator to clarify the circumstances surrounding the remarks he allegedly made during the APC campaign in Ilesa.
The summons also directed Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Osogbo, at 11:00 am on Wednesday, 12 August.
The police further noted that the invitation was based on information indicating that the senator had made statements considered threatening, inciting, and intimidating.
“The invitation is premised on information in possession of the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned programme, you made statements considered to be threatening, inciting, and intimidating in nature, and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms,” the letter read.
