Police Inspector shoots himself dead, reason yet unknown

One Police Inspector Ajele Oloyede has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a ceramics company in Igbesa, Ogun where he was stationed as part of the security detail. The reason why he took his life is yet unknown.
The incident happened a day before 16-year-old girl committed suicide on Kaltungo Mountain in Gombe in the North East without also leaving any clue as to the reason for her drastic decision.
Ogun Police Command spokesperson Omotola Odutola disclosed on Sunday that the officer’s death occurred last Thursday.
She said Tolorunloju Stephen, an officer from Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos discovered the incident upon returning from Ikeja around 1.20pm.
Stephen found Oloyede resting his head on a table in the security office and when asked about his well-being, the Inspector assured Stephen he was fine.
Stephen then placed his bag and pistol on the table and entered the toilet, and coming out, he found Oloyede lying in a pool of blood.
“With the help of private security personnel, the wounded officer was immediately taken to Ota General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the doctor on duty,” Odutola said.
“Police officers visited the scene, and the deceased’s pistol was recovered. His body has been deposited at Ota General Hospital for autopsy, while we have begun notifying his family.”
Teenage girl commits suicide by hanging on a tree
In another apparent self-murder, 16-year-old Maryam Samuel reportedly committed suicide at Kaltungo community, Kaltungo Council in Gombe on Friday, according to state Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi.
Abdullahi confirmed that the girl was found hanging on a tree about 24 houea after she left home to fetch firewood.
“On Friday, at about 9:00am, a case of suicide was reported at Kaltungo Divisional Headquarters by the village head of Kalarin,” he said, per Daily Post.
“The deceased later identified as Maryam Samuel, 16 years old from Kalarin ward, was seen hanging with rope on a tree at Kalarin mountain without any marks of violence found on her body.”
The corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Kaltungo.
Abdullahi said preliminary investigation revealed that Maryam left home on Thursday to fetch firewood from a nearby bush, and further investigation would unravel the root cause of the incident.
