Two councillors and an imam were abducted by Gunmen in Tsauni community in Maradun Local Government Local Area of Zamfara State shortly after evening prayers on Wednesday night.
The incident was confirmed on Thursday by Zamfara State police command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar.
According to him, those kidnapped include councillors representing Gidan Gona and Tsibiri wards and the Imam of the mosque.

He went on to reveal that security operatives have since been deployed to the area and efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims.
Abubakar further appealed to residents to share any information that could help in the safe rescue of the victims.
Also commenting on the incident, the chairman of the local government, Sanusi Gamagiwa, explained that six people were initially abducted, but three were able to escape.
He continued, “So far, they have not contacted anyone to state their demands,”
