Sowore was taken into custody on Wednesday, while honouring an invitation at the NPF headquarters in Abuja.

The Police have released human rights activist, publisher and politician, Omoyele Sowore.
Speaking during a Facebook live session with his followers, Sowore said he was released at about 8 pm on Friday evening.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the activist was taken into custody on Wednesday, after arriving at the NPF headquarters in Abuja to honour an invitation from the Inspector-General of Police monitoring unit over a petition.
On Thursday, the former presidential candidate also alleged that police broke his arm while in detention.

Following his arrest, prominent Nigerians, opposition leaders and civil society organizations condemned his incarceration and called for his unconditional release.
While addressing Nigerians after regaining his freedom, Sowore noted that he was detained by an illegal Inspector General of Police (IGP).
He said: “Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is me here. I have just been released by the police.
“You know we told them that they can’t sustain this but them no dey hear word. I have just been released from detention after 48 hours by the illegal IGP and his people”.
