Police have arrested a certain suspected ritualist, Taiwo Yemitan, who they caught with a fresh human head and female body parts in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.

Ogun Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, disclosed in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday that Yemitan, 45, was arrested at 1.40am this morning in his home behind Atinsola petrol station, Sanni in Abeokuta.

Odutola said the police acted on a tip off from the local security outfits, the Agbekoya and the Vigilante Operatives, which led to the arrest.

“The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased identified as Darasimi, who he lured to his residence with the intent to kill her,” Odutola recounted.

“He confessed to the murder, naming two other individuals, Kehinde Yemitan and one Kazeem (second name unknown), as accomplices in the criminal act.

“Their intention was to sell the victims head and other body parts.”

She said the dismembered body of the victim has been deposited at the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta morgue for post mortem examination, and that efforts are

underway to arrest the accomplices and to locate the relatives of the victim.

According to Odutola, the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation.

She cited a similar incident early in the year in which a suspected ritualist, Azeez Adebayo, confessed to killing three ladies that he and his accomplices lured through hookup (prostitution arrangement).

She said Adebayo and his syndicate confessed that they lured young beautiful ladies from a hookup site called “MY CHAT” by enticing them with juicy amounts of money.

“He confessed that after bargaining and negotiating on a price, the ladies would follow up by visiting the indicated address given to them, and the journey eventually lead to their untimely death,” Odutola lamented.

She warned young ladies to stop “hookup” and be content with what they have, stressing that a high number of girls on “hookup” are slaughtered for satanic rituals for money or power.

Odutola also advised young ladies to be wary of negative entrapment of online dating sites but rather utilise the positive side of social media to advance their personal safety, by remaining cautious and alert.

She urged parents to look after their daughters and also give them thorough training in order not to fall victim to untimely death.
