Nigerian Police have arrested a suspected fraudster, Henry Ushie, in Asaba, Delta State at the weekend.
The 27-year-old suspect, who is a specialist in defrauding people via the Facebook, is a native of Bekwara Local Government Area, Cross River State. He was arrested around 3am after impersonating on the Facebook as Police detective, Abba Kyari, in a bid to defraud innocent citizens.
Last week, Kyari alerted about someone who had opened a Facebook page with his (Kyari) picture and name to defraud Nigerians.
Kyari stated on his Facebook page at the weekend: “After serious follow up, we arrested the notorious fraudster 3am today in Asaba Delta State.
“The suspect /culprit is Henry Ushie. A 27 year old native of Bekwara LGA Cross River State. He confessed that for the past three years he had been posing on Facebook as DIGs, AIGs, CPs, ministers, SGF, MD of companies and lastly my humble self.”
Kyari said that the suspect claimed that he would get jobs, postings and UN peace keeping work for his victims, who felt they were communicating with the prominent citizens whose pictures were usually displayed.
Kyari also said that the suspect confessed he was arrested in 2015 for the same crime and was subsequently charged to court where he was granted bail, while he continued committing same crime without remorse.
“The phone and sim cards plus the ATM card of the account he uses in defrauding people were recovered from him, Kyari said.
According to the detective, “He said when he saw my post about him on Facebook and people’s comments on the post, he quickly Googled to read about my Profile/ Records and since then he’s been having sleepless night.”
