Pepe wants Arsenal stay amid transfer rumour

Pepe took to his Instagram page to plead with Gunner’s boss, Mikel Arteta, to give him a fighting chance at the Emirates

Arsenal winger,  Nicholas Pepe,  has declared openly his readiness to fight for a place in the squad despite being deemed surplus to requirement at the Emirates.

The Ivorian joined Arsenal for a club-record £72miillion deal from French club, Lille, in 2019, but has failed to live up to the expectations of the club and fans.

The 27-year-old was a bit part player last season, as he donned the club’s jersey in just five Premier League games, scoring just one goal and making an assist.

Reports in England claim that Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Pepe and a price tag of around £25m has been placed on the striker who has two years left on his contract.

Premier League club, Leeds United, Liege 1 sides, Marseille, Lyon and La Liga club, Sevilla are some of the clubs lining up for his signature.

Pepe featured in all three preseason games for Arsenal against Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea but had little or no impact.  

However, ahead of the Gunner’s August 5 away PL game against city rivals, Crystal Palace, the Ivorian international has taken to his Instagram page to lead with Mikel Arteta to give him a fighting chance at the Emirates. 

“I worked hard during the summer. Changed a lot of things.

“I’m focused and determined with Arsenal and my teammates,” Pepe wrote. 

He added the hashtags: #OnTheRoad #PremierLeague #FACup #EuropaLeague #NP19
