.Campaigns against voter apathy on Saturday

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the Saturday Senatorial election, Chief Victor Umeh, at Abagana, the headquarters of Njikoka Local Government Area admitted that he incured the hatred of some people because of dogged fight to keep the party alive.
Umeh during his campaign for votes in the coming Senatorial election on Wednesday.
He said that some people really record his campaign speeches and send to the powers that be in Abuja to make him enemy of people at the corridors of power.
According to him, for 15 years he had fought for APGA and defeated many opponents of his party and that has marked him as enemy of such people.
His words: “My offence is that I fought and defended APGA. They will continue to pursue me.
“For 15 years I have laboured for APGA. There are some people who through my work left the party. But when APGA won in 2003 someone else took the position I fought and reclaimed it.
“Those who vowed Obiano would not go for second term have vanished. So, a lot of good about me. But a lot say ill of me. They should not be angry. It is my destiny.
“As for Saturday election it must hold. God has said so.
“But we have not been where we are supposed to be. If election is conducted and I win, we shall begin a new dawn.
“Many people have started joining APGA and today at Dunukofia rally, Ike Dunukofia joined us and here Mr. Francis Okoye popularly known as Oyi Umunri declared for APGA”.
He appealed to voters to come out en-masse to cast their votes and appealed to them not to see the election as a work over.
Also, his Director of Campaign Organisation and Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, urged voters to cast more votes than in the governorship election.
Obiano said: “Don’t say he has no opponents and so there is no point voting.
“Let us celebrate on Saturday evening. Since I won my re-election my victory has created a bonding”, Obiano said.
The rally was also attended by the deputy governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, national chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, state chairman of the party, Sir Norbert Obi, among others.
