PDP suspends Anyanwu, legal Adviser, others over alleged misconduct

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of four senior officials, including its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, over alleged anti-party activities.
Also affected by the disciplinary action are the party’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), and Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha.
The decision was reached on Saturday during a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held in Abuja.
The move comes barely a day after a Federal High Court in Abuja halted the party’s planned national elective convention scheduled for November 15.
According to PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the suspended officials were found to have committed several acts considered a violation of the party’s constitution.
In a statement issued by the party, it said: “National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; National organizing Secretary, Umar Bature; National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, are suspended for one month and referred to the National Disciplinary Committee.
“During this period of the suspension, they cease to function in their respective capacities.
“In the case of the National Secretary, Pursuant to Section 36(2) of our Party Constitution as amended in 2017, the Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo shall act as the National Secretary.
“In the case of the National Legal Adviser and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, the National Director of Legal Services is hereby directed to oversees the activities of the Department.”
The party said the disciplinary process is in line with its internal rules aimed at maintaining order and accountability among its officials.
