British pundit and former England midfielder Paul Merson has suggested that the outcome of Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture against Fulham will determine whether or not they win the title.
He made the prediction recently while appearing as a guest on Sky Sports.
Arsenal narrowly beat Newcastle United 1–0 on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium to move three points clear of Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Before then, Mikel Arteta’s men had lost consecutive matches to Bournemouth and their nearest rivals, City.
However, going into the final four games of the season, they are still neck-and-neck with Pep Guardiola’s team in the title race.

The Gunners’ final four league matches are against three London rivals—Fulham, West Ham, and Crystal Palace—and Burnley, located in Lancashire, North West England.
Addressing Arsenal’s chances of lifting the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years, Merson believes a win against Fulham—which would establish a six-point gap before Man City kick a ball—will be pivotal.
He argued that going six points clear could affect the Citizens, who face a difficult away game against Everton.
“If Arsenal win next week against Fulham at home, Arsenal will win the league,” Merson said.
He added: “That’s what I think. I’ve said all season that they’ll win it. It is getting tight, but I think if they can go six points clear… Everton away is a difficult game for Man City when six points behind.”
