A petty trader and grandmother, Taiye Kemi, has told a Lagos Court that she fears if her nine-year-old grand daughter, Ayomide, could still have children when she grows up and marries after she was raped by a pastor, Adebayo of Mowo, Badagary in Lagos State.
The grandmother stated this when the court asked her if she had something to say at the High Court of Lagos State in the Ikeja Judicial Division (special offences) court No. 6, Roseline Omotoso Court House Ikeja before Justices S. O Solebo.
While narrating the incident before the court as a witness, the grandmother said that she was home with some of her visitors who came to visit her because she was sick. Her granddaughter, who was also staying with her, went out to throw away waste. But she returned unusually late.
The grandmother said that her daughter’s husband, who was around at the time, threatened to punish the nine-year-old unless she confessed what she was doing out. It was at that point that she said what Pastor Adebayo did.
“She went to throw waste and the pastor asked her to follow him and she obeyed.
When she entered the pastor’s room, the pastor asked her to lie on the floor and the pastor climbed on her and inserted his penis into her vagina. When she shouted, the pastor assured her that he would take it easy with her,” the grandmother narrated.
She continued: “We asked her if she can recall the place and she said yes. So, I asked my daughter’s husband and others that were around to fellow me.”
She said that the pastor could not be found.
The incident occurred on Friday. On Monday, Ayomide went to school and her vigilant teacher sent her back home to call her grandmother.
“ I was at home. When she told me, I was happy because I have been thinking of how to handle the case,” she said.
She explained that the teacher helped her to call human rights, and a Baale helped with his car to take her to the hospital.
She later called that the pastor had been caught. When the Pastor was asked if he knew Ayomide, he denied it until they brought her and she pointed at him among three others.
“When they asked him to call his people, he was reluctant. So the Baale took his mobile phone and the first number they saw was Lady B and when they called the lady, she said the number belongs to her husband. When they asked her if she knew where her husband was, she said the husband is at Ori-Oke (Mountain) for over two years..
“The human rights group asked her to come over. When she came and saw her husband on the floor, she shouted! They told her that this is the Ori-Oke the husband told her he was,” the grandmother narrated.
The case was adjourned to Monday, May 28 for further hearing.
